Adventure Days are an invaluable part of our offering. They are a unique opportunity to broaden children’s horizons, support their development, encourage independence and enrich their learning experiences. Adventures include everything from art galleries to plays, library visits to horse riding, workshops to community service, and much more. Some adventures are curriculum-related – these serve to develop knowledge and understanding of a particular topic. Other adventures celebrate the broad range of human intelligence and provide new experiences, opportunities to develop new skills, a taster for a new interest, or build on pre-existing knowledge and experience, such as horse riding and swimming.

As well as offering specific learning benefits, our adventure activities create wider opportunities for development. Public transport is an important tool for learning, as is the chance to operate outside a traditional classroom environment. Children learn to manage their own belongings, be mindful of their safety, and look after one another. They interact with a variety of people, with different teaching styles and expertise, all while supported by our team of trusted adults.
Children will more readily associate some adventures with ‘fun’, but we like to surprise them, enabling them to choose to enjoy and discover different experiences and environments for themselves. Each adventure is a tool to build each child’s sense of self and understanding of their own learning and the wider world.
As with our Forest experience, the children are part of a mixed age group. Children are encouraged to lead, participate, question and collaborate.

As grown-ups, we have to work with lots of different kinds of people. Our adventure activities help children learn how to navigate relationships safely, setting and respecting boundaries to optimise their own learning.
Our adventures are memorable, immersive experiences that promote critical thinking, curiosity and creativity. Adventures complement the experiences children have with their families. When adventuring alongside their peers, children can lead, learn from one another, create memories together, strengthen friendships and build their independence and confidence.
Adventure Days operate every Friday in term-time.
